Chimichanga is a deep-fried burrito that is common in Tex-Mex and other Southwestern U.S. cuisine. The origin of this dish is uncertain, but it is a very popular dish in the Southern US states, especially Arizona. This is a pretty good recipe for chimichangas and very easy to make as well, not to mention very low-calorie.

Serves: 4 servings
Ingredients
1⁄2 lb ground turkey breast
1 garlic clove, minced
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tsp. chili powder
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1⁄2 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. dried oregano
1⁄3 cup reduced-fat cheddar cheese, shredded
2 Tbsp. mild green chilies, chopped
4 (8 inch) fat free tortillas, flour
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Spray a nonstick baking sheet with nonstick spray; set aside.
Spray a medium nonstick skillet with nonstick spray; set over medium-high heat.
Add the turkey, garlic, onion, oregano, chili powder and cumin. Cook, breaking up the turkey with a wooden spoon, for about 6 minutes (until the chicken starts to brown).
Stir in the chiles and the tomato sauce; bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for about 5 minutes (until the flavors are blended and the mixture slightly thickens).
Remove from the heat and stir in the cheddar cheese.
Meanwhile, wrap the tortillas in foil and place them in the warm oven for about 10 minutes.
Spoon about 1/2 cup of the filling into the center of each tortilla. Fold in the sides, then roll to enclose the filling.
Place the chimichangas, seam-side down, on the baking sheet. Lightly spray the tops of the tortillas with nonstick spray.
Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes (until golden and crisp), without turning.
