Weight Watchers Advice From Lisa Crozier: “Spring Into Action”

Lisa Crozier from Weight Watchers provided some tips to help get you started:

  • Your portions: We’ve heard a lot about today’s portion sizes and how they’re larger than they’ve ever been, and we’ve talked about swapping out your current dinner plates for appetizer- and salad-sized ones to help keep portion sizes healthy. But what should be on your plate and how you should portion it out is just as important as the size of the plate. Almost half of your plate should be used for veggies and fruits; one-quarter for whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa or whole-wheat pasta; and lastly, the other quarter of your plate should be for lean protein–foods like chicken, fish or eggs.
  • Your access to healthier options: It sounds simple – just keep healthy foods around. But with food all around us, it can be hard to navigate our way to the healthy ones. When doing your Spring Cleaning, organize your refrigerator and pantry so that healthy foods are front and center. For example, keep a bowl of freshly washed grapes in your refrigerator at all times. Whenever you open the refrigerator door, you’ll be more inclined to eat a few grapes, which can help curb your hunger. Already sliced oranges in a Ziploc bag or clear storage container, as well as freshly washed fruit in a bowl on the counter or on your table, can also help steer you to healthier food choices.
  • Your exercise routine: The human body is designed for movement. Regular physical activity is transformative for your body and your mind. It will also reinforce all the positive changes you make at mealtime. A simple activity plan to help jump-start your spring exercise routine is to write down the kinds of exercises you’re interested in and then make an effort to try one by the end of the week. And use an activity monitor when you can. WW members and subscribers using trackers like Fitbit can track their daily activity and automatically convert that information into activity PPV’s, giving them a more comprehensive weight loss experience.
